1. You’re getting sick often
Psychology Today tells us that even low to medium amounts of stress can contribute to a lowering of the immune system. So if you’re feeling pressured at work, it can REALLY take a toll on how your body is achieving. (Cue in that stupid little cold that pays you a visit every other week and makes you feel unproductive for days.)
2. You have trouble sleeping
It’s no secret that worried minds are sleepless minds. If your brain works anything like this image up here, then you’re definitely bringing work home with you and it’s making you feel over-pressured!
3. You have a constant need for snacking
Anxiety feeds on making us feel uncomfortable and most likely it will have you dreading even the smallest things from your day-to-day. If you find yourself constantly looking for snacks (even if you’re not hungry), then it could mean that you’re feeling uneasy and pressured and that you’re looking for an outlet (in the form of – most likely unhealthy– snacks).
Your diagnosis:
If you’re experiencing at least 2 of these symptoms above, then you have No C–Outlet Disorder. The C stands for Creative (And yes, I just made that whole thing up, but you KNOW it’s a thing.)
The same thing happened to me when I was working my 9 to 5 job. I knew that I was good at my job, but I seriously felt like I had no other outlet for anything. This made me frustrated and like I was wasting away.
My mind belonged to my work and it made sure I knew it 100% of the time.
I took it to bed every night and it kept me bittersweet company to achieve my half-accomplished sleep (the over-worked mind is jealous, and it wants you all to itself).
Contrary to what all influencers and coolio people of the internet tell you: This didn’t change in a single day. There’s NO “click here and you’ll live the life of your dreams” button in real life.
All the changes that came after, happened when I discovered calligraphy by scrolling the infinite Instagram hole.
Day by day, understanding the beauty of creation that comes when you put pen to paper started filling tiny holes in my heart and mind that I didn’t even know existed.
I didn’t even realize how it started happening, but I was sleeping soundly every night, my eating and water drinking habits had improved like crazy and I stopped getting dumb tiny colds every week.
Lately, I’ve been feeling like that stress has been wanting to take over again and I started to mess around with floral drawing to let my creativity bloom! I’ve been talking a lot about how floral drawing can be an outlet for you if you’ve been feeling like this lately.
You may say: No, thank you. I’m not artsy enough for that.
Let me tell you something: You are human, therefore you have a NEED to be creative. Considering yourself “artsy” has nothing to do with that. I have a fun challenge for you that you’re not going to want to miss.
